About Sozer Cizmeci

Sadık Sözer Çizmeci is an Independent Consultant and Human Resources Professional with over fifteen years of experience and a strong expertise in Turkish labor law, the Turkish foreigners’ code, Payroll, HRIS, International assignment management, and social security matters. He is the founder of Expat Guide Turkey, a prominent web resource and publication. Moreover, he recently founded Stafimy, a distinguished HR management consultancy firm offering tailored solutions to numerous local and international companies in HR management and related fields. Sadık Çizmeci earned his BA degree in International Relations, graduating as the top outstanding graduate from Eastern Mediterranean University, and holds an LLM degree in European Law from the University of Nottingham. Currently, he is pursuing a Ph.D. in Human Resources Management at Ankara University. In addition to his professional and academic endeavors, he serves as the chairperson for Odak Der, a renowned Turkish charity organization.

NEW RULES ON PRESS, SOCIAL MEDIA AND INTERNET JOURNALISM

With new law, major amendments like inclusion of the regulation of Internet News Sites within the scope of Turkish Press Law, details, and updates with regards to types, eligibility, issuance, and cancellations of Press Cards made to the Turkish Press Law. New rules regulating operations and obligations of foreign Social Network Providers and Over-the-Network Providers are introduced and sanctions and restrictions are adopted in an aim to regulate online platforms and to criminalize certain offences like disseminating false or misleading content.

ARTICLE 75 OF THE MUNICIPALITY LAW NO. 5393: JOINT PROJECTS BETWEEN MUNICIPALITIES AND ASSOCIATIONS / FOUNDATIONS

Municipalities may carry out joint service projects with the public professional organizations, associations for public interest, foundations exempted from taxation by the Council of Ministers and professional organizations under the Law No. 5362 on Professional Organizations of Tradesmen and Craftsmen dated June 07, 2005.

CLASSIFICATION OF THE COMPANIES UNDER THE TURKISH COMMERCIAL CODE

In Turkey, the companies can be incorporated in accordance with various laws. The companies incorporated according to the Turkish Commercial Code are classified as sole proprietorships and equity companies. On the other hand, the cooperative companies can be specified according to the Cooperatives Law and the ordinary partnerships can be specified according to the Code of Obligations.

REGULATION FOR IMPLEMENTATION OF THE LAW ON INTERNATIONAL LABOR FORCE

Regulation on implementation of the International Labor Force Law No. 6735 entered into force upon being published in the Official Gazette dated February 02, 2022 and numbered 31738. The Regulation for Implementation of the Law on the Work Permit for Foreigners published in the Official Gazette dated August 29, 2003 and numbered 25214 has been annulled.

REGULATION ON AMENDMENTS TO THE REGULATION ON IMPLEMENTATION OF THE LAW ON TURKISH CITIZENSHIP

On Jan 6, 2022, through presidential decree no. 5072, “Regulation on Amendments to the Regulation on Implementation of the Law on Turkish Citizenship” put into effect as per article 46 of Turkish Citizenship Law no 5901.
